Injections of stem cells heal dogs’ painful joints

“Schultz’s life got off to a rough start. The German shepherd’s owner, Goldie Demko, is determined to make sure it doesn’t end tha way. In an effort to stave off 11-year-old Schultz’s debilitating joint pain, Demko recently asked a veterinarian to inject his hips with stem cells extracted from his own fat. The therapy — still experimental and not readily available for humans — was made available to pets this year by several Western Pennsylvania veterinarians.”

Funeral home to host wake for dog

The 9-year-old German Shepherd, owned by Saugus native Kris Giles, died after a battle with cancer, leaving his human family members, friends and all who knew him in shock and in mourning.”
